I was reading those messages from the old hiccuplovers list [they're great btw!]
and I recalled that there was this girl, she was able to get the hiccups
whenever she wanted to. She would just make herself burp a few times and she got
them. But she then didn't know how to stop them. I don't remember any previous
cases but this one.

She was the only daughter of my father's wife -- I never took her as a sister.
This girl was a naughty girl and I didn't like her at all. But the last time I
spent some time with her [in our house at the beach -- just before my father
sold it]. I think I was old enough to know that the hiccups made me feel really
good [although I couldn't yet understand how it worked and why] and I persuaded
her to provoke them. I asked if she could still cause to have the hiccups as she
used to before. She said she could and then I proposed she could show me how. So
she did. She suddenly became a best friend of mine. At least for the time she
had them. I don't remember how fast they were, but they had this "wet" sound and
her throat would suck in very hard and her belly popped out. She kept talking
through them and I think she had them pretty long because I remember her having
them still in the car when we were going back home. This time I pretended I was
tired and lay down on her ... [we were sitting on the back seat]. She kept
hiccupping and I could feel every one of them. They didn't seem to bother her
and she kept giggling as I told her that I couldn't sleep with her bouncing all
the time. I can't tell you also when they stopped. It was a long time ago.

Then there was my father. He drank a lot and I remember several cases.
He's a thin guy and at that time he didn't have a beard. I think he got the
hiccups often because of his frequent drinking and they were usually singles but
this day he was lying on the bed with his wife and we were talking, I think we
were about to say goodnight when they began. I remember seeing his belly popping
out and he said "there's someone here with the hiccups". I don't remember if her
daughter was there or not and I remember his wife asking if it was me. I said
"no, it's NOT me!" -- how could anyone ever think I had the hiccups! -- and he
said "it-it's me" and kept hiccupping. I don't remember much more from this
case. Sorry.

Once we were home and [he loved to go out to dinner] so he suggested we went out
to eat something. I didn't like going out with him because I knew he was going
to get drunk. I think he was already high 'cause he was hiccupping already. I
can't usually ask someone with the hiccups if he's got them but this time I
asked "hiccups, daddy?" and he said "yes, but jus-*huck* just till I get
something t-to eat." and we went. We were talking about cars and he said he'd
like to have two, "one r-red *huck* and o-one black *huck*". We were trying to
call his wife who was out somewhere. We weren't successful but I remember seeing
his stomach popping out and hearing this *huck" sound and sometimes a sigh every
time he leaned against the pay-phone. His hiccups must have faded on the way to
the restaurant because I don't remember what happened next... It was a loooooong
time ago, sorry for that.

Oh, and my mom, then. I didn't live with her so I didn't experience many of her
frequent hiccup cases. Every time, but EVERY time she drinks coke she gets the
hiccups. And she LIKES coke! :) Well, so I can tell you that she would always
give us some high-pitched HICs every two seconds and I don't know how she can
breath. And they are always really loud. It also happens when she was eats
something dry, rice for example. She complains but keeps on eating or drinking.
Mom's a little overwheight and big in her bosom and you can't see much of her
belly popping when she has the hiccups. They're loud and fast but don't rock her
much and what you actually notice is her throat sucking in.

I went home some months ago and she didn't fail to give me some hiccups. Once
when we were eating but it was just in my husband's presence and I couldn't
enjoy asking her something about her hiccups like "you keep having them, mom?"
because he knows about my thing and I wish I hadn't told him ever. And then she
had them out of nothing, as we were walking on the street. I made her talk a
little but while she was speaking her hiccups didn't interrupt her just as if
they waited until she stopped talking.

I remember her having the hiccups once when she was getting ready to sleep. She
wondered if she could get asleep while having them and she did actually hiccup a
few times when lying but they went away soon and she didn't get much trouble in
falling asleep.

I guess that's all for now. I know I'm not very good at writing or describing
things but... And sorry for my baaaad English!!! :)
